Energy Action will hold a two-day Fuel Poverty Conference in Dublin Castle on 7th-8th Feb 2011. Eamon Ryan TD. Minister for Communications, Energy & Natural Resources will host the conference and will perform the opening address.

'Translating research into community action' , 20 August 2010 was organised in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Public Health (CoE), Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH) and the Community Development and Health Network (CDHN). This work falls under the works stream Public Health Knowledge Integration and Knowledge Brokerage of the CoE which was created in 2008 to help bridge the gap between research, policy and practice, and embed CoE research into policy dilemmas.

Prof. James Sallis, Professor of Psychology at San Diego State University and Director of Active Living Research shared his experience of working to implement policy and practice change in the USA on improving levels of physical activity. Prof Sallis has developed an extensive programme of work looking at the policy and environmental influences on physical activity, nutrition and obesity. As Director of Active Living Research his work contributes to the prevention of childhood obesity in low income and high-risk communities.
