Launch of first report  of The Irish Diabetes Prevalence Working Group, Ireland and Northern Ireland's Population Health Observatory (INIsPHO), Institute of Public Health in Ireland.

This document describes Health Impact Assessment (HIA) and the steps involved in HIA.  It gives advice based on the experience of HIA practitioners and provides tools to help carry out these steps and adapt HIA to local circumstances.

This directory will be useful to those wishing to make contact with men’s health activities as well as policy makers, health professionals and people working in the area of men’s health. There is a considerably higher number of entries in this directory compared with the 2004 edition but it is understood that it still does not cover all areas of activity in the areas of men’s health in Ireland.

This review is the third in the series and illustrates how the built environment impacts on health. It also highlights the unequal distribution of these impacts on different sections of the population.  We hope it will help inform debate about the links between the built environment and health and be a useful resource for those working to influence public policy for health at local and national level across the island.

Inequalities and low birthweight - a global problem

Leaflet detailing research by the Institute funded by the Research and Development Office for Health and Personal Social Services in Northern Ireland.  The aim of the research was to identify the impact of multisectoral partnerships, how they can be measured, and what contribution they make to tackling inequalities in health.

Last year, Ireland and Northern Ireland’s Population Health Observatory (INIsPHO) was established in the Institute of Public Health in Ireland.

After the success of the Inaugural All-Ireland Health Intelligence conference, we’d like to keep the momentum going.
