The All-Ireland electronic Health Library (AIeHL)is a network of interoperable websites across the island of Ireland. Each member site contains a range of knowledge resources related to health and well-being. Different types of resources (such as policy and strategy documents, data (quantitative and qualitative), research reports, details of programmes and interventions, contacts, websites, etc) are included.

Ireland and Northern Ireland’s Population Health Observatory (INIsPHO) is housed in the Institute of Public Health in Ireland, and its framework was accepted by the Institute’s Management Board in September 2005.

About the Group
Accurate estimates of the number of people with diabetes in an area are essential to plan service. Current methods for doing so on the island have many limitations.

Irish Health Poverty Index Working Group

Health Poverty Indices (HPI) are sophisticated summary measures of health inequalities at local and regional level. They reflect the complex socio-economic factors involved in the generation of health and ill-health. The HPI for an area is presented in an intuitive web-based graphical tool called ‘spider plots’ that are powerful communication tools and allow comparisons of different areas to be made.
