Public Health Alliance for the island of Ireland (PHAII)
The development of public health alliances, which provide a multidisciplinary and multisectoral voice for health, has been successful in the United Kingdom and Europe.
The Public Health Alliance for the island of Ireland (PHAII) was formed by the amalgamation of the Public Health Alliance Ireland (PHAI) and the Northern Ireland Public Health Alliance (NIPHA) in 2006.
The PHAII is an independent, voluntary coalition of individuals and organisations from all sectors with a shared commitment to working together for a healthier and fairer society by improving health and challenging health inequalities.
The Alliance enables cross-fertilisation of ideas and sharing of knowledge, skills and experience across the breadth of public health policy and practice.
Building on the strengths of its members, it aims to support people to work more effectively at local level and to be a cohesive voice with leverage and influence on health and health inequalities at all levels of policy-making and service provision.
