Decent Food for All (DFfA)- two new reports available
24 Apr 2007
The Institute is currently conducting the research and evaluation of the ‘Decent Food for All’ (DFfA) programme. This is a three-year partnership-based programme committed to addressing food poverty led by the Armagh and Dungannon Health Action Zone in Northern Ireland.
The evaluation will test the effectiveness of the DFfA programme at reducing food poverty in the Armagh and Dungannon area and runs throughout the lifetime of the programme. It is a community based intervention study with programme and comparison areas. Pre and post intervention measures have been collected incorporating a range of methodologies which focus on physical and financial access to food, dietary and food safety knowledge and practices and cultural aspects of food and food consumption. Funding for the evaluation has been provided by SafeFood.
A final evaluation report will be completed at the end of 2007. Two reports are currently available to access: "The availability and price of food in rural Northern Ireland" and "Food culture in rural Northern Ireland".
