A highly successful 25th All Ireland Social Medicine Meeting (AISMM) was held in the Ulster Museum on 9 September 2010.
Professor Alun Evans gave a keynote speech acknowledging and paying tribute to the founder of the All Ireland Social Medicine Meeting, Professor John Pemberton. In his speech Professor Evans highlighted some of Professor Pemberton's major contributions and his links to Queen's University Belfast where he was Chair of Social and Preventative Medicine.
50 people registered for the AISMM from across the island.
18 papers were presented including a symposium consisting of 4 papers on 'Halting the development of conduct problems in Ireland: Evaluating the effectiveness of the Incredible Years Parent and Teacher training series within a 'high risk', community based setting'.
We were delighted to be joined by Professor Roger Blaney, former member of the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at Queen's University Belfast.
