Four PhD studentships in UKCRC Centre for Translational Research in Public Health

18 Aug 2009

Three Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) PhD studentships are available to start this autumn in the Centre for Translational Research in Public Health, a UKCRC public health research centre of excellence.

The studentships are funded by ESRC under the jointly funded e-health infrastructure initiative, which is led by the NIHR capacity building programme, and aims to build capacity for future research using personalised electronic health records.

The studentships will involve quantitative methods, including data linkage, will be undertaken in collaboration with the North East Public Health Observatory (NEPHO), and have a focus on understanding health inequalities generated by health systems.

Two studentships will be based in the Institute of Health & Society at Newcastle University, and one in the School of Medicine and Health, at Durham University. All studentships will be jointly supervised by senior academics from two of the five universities within the Centre.

All studentships are available as 3 year or 4 year (1+3 - MSc + PhD) studentships. The studentships are ONLY available to United Kingdom and European Union nationals.

Further details of all four studentships can be found on the Newcastle University web site at:
