Official launch of Centre of Excellence for Public Health Northern Ireland - 18 June 2008

A launch and scientific symposium will mark the opening of the Centre of Excellence for Public Health (Northern Ireland), one of five centres created as part of a new £20 million investment across the United Kingdom by the UK Clinical Research Centre (UKCRC). The Centre, which includes a number of partners including Queen's University Belfast, Institute of Public Health in Ireland (IPH), Community Development and Health Network, W5 and the DHSSPS Research and Development Office, will work to build research capacity and tackle the major public health issues affecting health.
The event's programme includes 4 sessions:
- Health policy in a changing world - changing models, changing practices
- Nutrition and public health
- Economics and health inequalities
- The continuing challenge of chronic disease
The event will take place on 18 June 2008, Room G07, Peter Froggatt Centre, Queen's University Belfast from 9am to 5.30pm.
