On June 9th, 2010 the Institute of Public Health in conjunction with the HSE hosted the inaugural “Quality Improvement, Patient Safety and knowledge Integration in Health Services” Seminar which was held at Pearse Street Library in Dublin.

Speakers from the HSE included Mary Morrissey, Siobhan Jennings and David Vaughan. We were also delighted to have Allan Best (Senior Scientist, Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute Clinical Professor, School of Population and Public Health, University of British Columbia) as our keynote speaker.

The aims of the interactive workshop were to place quality improvement and patient safety in the context of the inte debate about knowledge integration in the health services; and in light of this, discuss the development of initiatives to support the HSE, its staff and service users.

The seminar was well attended and very well received. We are now planning for the next meeting in the series, due to take place in September 2010.
